Ponies At Dawn - Enigma (Compilation)

08 Radiarc — Aleph Null

It's actually hard to comprehend everything happening here. This consists of way too many elements yet has one huge atmospheric vibe that drives you crazy from the beginning right until the end of the track. Insanity is probably a good word to describe this. I could probably add some scientific words here, but I have no idea of what might fit this composition. Synthesis of musical bliss and incoherent kaleidoscopic misery? Still not enough. Haunting.

#09 Exiark — Through Time And Space

I think this is just my type of music in general. Although this broken atmosphere is created with precise accuracy, the most important thing here is the tempo. Everytime it changes things get really-really strange and creepy. Weird in a good indescribable way for me. First you can't figure out the melody and only in time you begin to realize what have you got yourself into. Yes, this is a puzzle worth solving in the end.

#14 J. Free, TheWanderingKit & Synthis — Fallen Kind

I must admit I'm not a big fan of rap/hip-hop myself, but this is just something. What gets me here? It's either the lyrics or the music that loops one simple chord progression. Again and again, I kept this track on repeat just the same for… how long now? I don't know, I just probably feel like it. It's awesome and I love this song from the start til the end. Makes you think and rethink what your life is about — all of sudden Oo

#30 NeverLastStanding & loophoof — Fuchsia Dream

When the voice-chops are so greatly made they hit you right into your heart. Sometimes I feel as if it's the voice-chops only, but it always happens only thanks to the music as a concrete basis. As for myself… I hear both sides working amazingly together in this track. And of course the tempo changes — this often gets me. For some reason the «choruses» (I'll use this word, okay? >_>) bring back memories of old rave parties. Again. It keeps happening.

#38 Seventh Element — Remaining Ichor

Loneliness and nauseating silence. Every heartbeat, every breath painfully reflects in your brain and awakes paranoid thoughts and flashbacks of warmth. It's grace and darkness in a solitary existence. Yes, you bet this one sounds impressive for me. Along with the great sound-design I simply love the flowing atmosphere. Like a slowly bleeding scar on a serene angel's body that turns into a graveyard covered in most beautiful flowers you've ever seen.

#39 Replacer — Still No Words

At first the empty ambience fills the space but what comes next amazes the imagination and reminds me a lot of Terry Scott Taylor's music — closer to «Armikrog» than «The Neverhood», I'd say. Why? Because of the confident and well-measured mood of this, not to mention the simple, yet catchy chord progression. Sometimes you can create masterpieces out of simpliest things, thoughts and emotions — and that's exactly what Replacer did here with impressive precision.

#42 bank pain — Breaking Of Dawn (Hay Tea & ExplodingPonyToast Remix)

We can't resist dnb. bank pain alone makes awesome stuff, but a remix from Hay Tea? With some help from EPT? Yes, please! The softness and the tension in this track are gorgeously made and it flows smoothly through transition parts with bells/chimes. Like a candle growing into a firestorm it slowly evolves from the humble sidechained beginning to the top of the sound wall in the end. All of sudden I hear «Siberia» vibes here too.

#43 DJT & NeverLastStanding — Leap Of Faith

I honestly wasn't expecting this collab. All of sudden it became a real blast and I think I may even recognize the style of each musician here, like, I can probably say who's responsible for what here, tchie. What I really love is how well the aggressive and the heavy-driven parts blend with soft and mellow episodes with voice-chops. And of course I adore how they play with chord progressions — the changes are subtle but for me they add a lot to the composition.

#57 Osoch — Parasitic (feat. PrinceWhateverer, Arabesque Sympony & L-Train)

First of all this track is practically overwhelming. The structures are not just «another simple mish-mash of riffs», but something interesting and captivating. It's like a puzzle of sorts and that's what makes it unique — personally, just chord progressions and chord choices in general. I would probably compare it to old Pinkie Guy's tracks, but this track is different in everything. Also love the calm bridge part — yep, the chords are strong for me.

#62 bank pain, Tripon & Progressive Element — Ghost In The Dream VIP

The very first impression could be described simply: Black Sun Empire. This is a really unique collaboration of P@D neuromancers who brought their decent and skilled neuro to this album. Even though melodic parts here aren't long enough for me personally (yes, I enjoy these, yes, I'm a weirdo), we both enjoy this track in many ways. Oh, wait, was it my voice among the others?.. Nah, probably just a ghost white noise from my earbuds. Amazing.

#65 Sky Runner — The Stalker

I assume this track was created with only one purpose: to make me cry. Seriously, as a flashback to «Grotesque» in my memory one second it just clicked and, well, the next thing I remember is me trying not to cry out loud on my way to work — had to cry silently. Ugh, who am I trying to fool, of course I was crying pretty loud. How does it even work and why is it so awesome and painful at the same time? No idea. But it is awesome. And it is painful.

#69 Mane In Green — Journey Through The Unknown Wonders Of Equestria

Oh, now this is pretty complex! The positivity and life in this one shine brighter than the bagpipes, violins and dulcimers altogether here. The structure is really difficult to catch from just a few listens, but once you get the idea of it — yes, it works. I like the confidence and simplicity (yes, this word) of the main theme — it sounds careless and free (even pastoral from some point), and that's what makes it beautiful.

#71 Wandering Artist — Magic Water

First I wasn't sure if I want to stop right here in attempt to understand what's going on in this track. But as it happens from time to time, well… I thought, like, «wait a minute, is that..?». And blessed Spark, it hits me again and again. The sort of hypnotizing mysique with suspended chords and soft tension that totally lacks aggressiveness and anger. It's a painful memory of blissful observation and serene sincerity. I'm at loss for words here.

Затем — всё ещё классные композиции#06 Foozogz — Going Lucid (feat. Mei)

I personally enjoy these vocals — Mei sounds really-really good, but what's also cool about this track — the rhythm changes in the «chorus» parts, from «straight» to «broken» and back. That's pretty interesting and gives the feel of curiosity.

#07 Frozen Night — Unity

I can't count the time signatures >_<. Frozen Night has a really weird phobia if you ask me — but from the other point it's what makes his music unique and remarkable among the others. What's most remarkable here is the using of tuned percussion and the transience of the composition gives it adventurous and versatile feel.

#26 John Kenza — Looking At The Stars (feat. Agatan)

Familiar John Kenza's style (easily with the voice-chops, right?) combined with really nice vocals — what else could you ask for? I adore the lyrics and how they are represented here. That repetitive «looking at the stars» line does the job. Btw, is this the first time we hear Agatan on P@D?..

#29 UndreamedPanic — The Quest For Kindness (feat. Metajoker)

Ohhhhh, these vocals are gorgeous, I must admit! And that recognizable Panic's sound-design — yes, please. I'm not a big fan of Fluttershy (yes, you can say that, tchie, pretty obvious), but I found my own personal connection to the lyrics nevertheless — surprisingly. But it's a good sign.

#31 eksoka — Heart Of The Empire

I love how peaceful and midnight'y the beginning sounds, creating a really calm and soft atmosphere while the chord progression with minor dominant chords builds up til the wall of sound hits as if the storm wave is finally set free. Yes, I can describe it as freedom of all kinds.

#37 Michael Picher — Beyond The Fourth Wall

Cinematic, mysterious and creepy. Fourth wall you say?.. Why does it sound like a pure grimdark to me? Aside from that it's amazingly done track, but the atmosphere really scares me. Guess I'm just not a fan of creepy stuff after all\\

#45 Hydra — Pulse

It's a really decent example of trance music with soft chord progression and rhythm variety which makes it more interesting. I'm surprised we didn't get Sonic Rainboom for this album, but, oh, well, at least Hydra is still around.

#50 AJ Young — Go Hard (feat. ShobieShy & TheWanderingKit)

Really hard one, literally. But honestly I'm just impressed by the rhyme skillz in this one, dudes really know their stuff. And when the music drops from the roof — oh yeah, it hits. This part between the verses strongly binds it. And kicks it. Hard.

#58 Thrasher — The Other Side Of Fear

Even though this one isn't catchy for me this time, I just prefer to enjoy the production quality in this one. Some instrumental djent'ish metal to listen to, yes. Also I like how the chords in the verse blend with the melody, it sounds interesting to me.

#61 Tripon — Stone Giants

Oh, Tripon, the neuromancer! Yeah, really impressive neuro with triplets — classic stuff, I'd say. The glitching/breaking voice-chops make it sound haunting and brutal. Especially that drop to sudden chill piano part and the explosion after.

#63 Hay Tea & Faulty — Chasing Sunlight

I know some dnb was scattered across the album, but the concentration of it belongs to this part of «Enigma». I always enjoy this blend of the dnb flow and the real instruments, tchie. Really like the constant tension with short releases in brief moments of the track (I think I can consider those parts «verses», right?)

#66 bank pain & Totalspark — This Too Shall Pass (feat. SDreamExplorerS)

The track itself is beautiful as it is, but I think my humble addition to it made this even better. I'm satisfied with the result and I'm happy how these two guys brought it together. The calm parts sound nobly and even proudly sometimes giving the feel of confidence to existence. But I'm sure this too shall pass.

#67 ILLUMNATION — Good Night

Not gonna lie, I want to call this «authentic folk» for several reasons, starting with the real instruments and going with acoustic ambience of the mixing. But aside from that let me just say again that I'm proud of my sister and I hope to hear her songs on the next albums as well. How can you not love the sincerity of her music?

#68 Zephysonas — The Stylish Sleuth (feat. Osoch, TheMusicReborn & Mane In Green)

Now… That was kinda unexpected. In fact I would say this is one of the closest to real jazz things I've ever heard on P@D albums. Of course it's not perfect, but the unique approach is always appreciated. I'm honestly surprised to hear this sweet tune on the album. We just need some ultimate real jazz drummer in the fandom.

И напоследок — honorable mentions#03 Silva Hound & Jyc Row — The Magic Flicker (feat. EileMonty)
For some reason I like the chord progression

#11 RKDM — Impetus
It reminds me of Siberia

#12 NeverLastStanding & PegasYs — Hero
(«My brothers leave me weeping»?) Talk box. Talk. Box. TALK BOX.

#16 BlueBrony — Imperfection
I enjoy the transitions between major and minor chords.

#19 Flittzy — Could It Be You
This brings good old 2013 for me. (Sorry, local humour)

#20 4EverfreeBrony & Replacer — Piece Of History
Perfect song for the fabric softener ads straight from 90s

#23 Luna Jax — Home
This sounds so american I almost began to feel proud of my country… Wait…

#27 Mantlegen & Einarx — Euphoria
Is Fluttershy being assertive or crazy? Fun.

#36 Jyc Row — Dragons (feat. Tim Storms)
The deepest void of this voice is deep.

#40 bank pain & PegasYs — Flipside (feat. Flittzy)
I like Darren Korb's vibes in this one

#41 Protocat — These Chords (feat. N. Hollow)
S/o to N.Hollow, I guess. Like the flow here.

#44 MEQA — Timberwolves
Why does this remind me of Maitreya? Oo It's different.

#49 Jyc Row & UndreamedPanic — Equalizer (feat. Agatan, Metajoker & MC-Arch)
I would say it's epic in a good way, if you know what I mean: ЬЬ

#51 UndreamedPanic & Doodled — Style
Now this is assertive! Impudent even. I like it.

#54 DJT & Rusyd Rosman — Breathing Space (Francis Vace Cover)
Can Francis hit those notes? Yes he can. And more.

#56 Quicksilver & L-Train — Stolen Time
Got a call from 2007. They want their music back. Nice one.

#64 Single Purpose — Fond Memories
Just nice and enjoyable dnb. Nothing else to say, it's soft.

#70 Mufaya — Old Kid's Piano
Full piano tracks are still rare. It's nice despite the repetitiveness

#72 RoomVR, Mufaya & jetty — Will Of The Wind
The last track of the album usually remains underrated. But it's a grand finale.

Такие дела, ждём подборку на рождество и всякие приятности в новом году
