Ponies at Dawn - Oceansong (Compilation)

#04 — 4EverfreeBrony & PrinceWhateverer — Fly Away (feat. Blackened Blue)
I like how well 4EFB's vocals blend with this heavy mix Oo I also adore those piano parts, they somehow remind me of Still Remains, which is pretty nice.

#06 — RKDM — Superstratus
Ah yes, vocal chops! The precise melodic work over them is fantastic as usual! The overall playful, funny and funky mood carries the whole thing, sometimes revealing a more serious and progressive approach to the chord progression and compositional choices. Dem fire drops too!

#08 — John Kenza — Storm
He's back with more orchestral elemenets! And wow, that bitcrusher on the lead is a surely great addition to the mix! And don't forget the everbanging drops..)

#10 — Hearse Percy — Bedrockin' (feat. Koa & General Mumble)
One word: talkbox. That's actually more than one word, but that's it.

#12 — L-Train — Mi Amore (Set It Off) -feat. StealingShad3z-
Whoa, those vocals are mixed exactly on point! Also gotta love Shad3z's voice acting and overall voice expressions — and those sweet intonations.

#15 — Cosmic Fox — Radiance
Can't help but mention one brief transitional chord in the chill middle section of this track, that sounded really like a small but outstandingly significant detail.

#18 — Totalspark — Hope (feat. Sock, Namii, Brayden, Alex Delzer & Koa)
Chill, soft and soothing, like most of Totalspark's songs, singing once again about something deeply personal, yet elusive and nearly abstract, this time accompanied by a number of guest vocals, which only made this song better.

#19 — BlueBrony — When The Sun Comes O'er The Horizon (feat. Koron Korak)
There's something unique about the way BlueBrony sings his songs. He always sounds a little bit excited and joyful even in mellow and tender songs, and I honestly enjoy it a lot. Plus I noticed how he's let the orchestration carry the whole thing without him adding any backing vocals — a small interesting and impressive detail worth mentioning.

#21 — Jyc Row & Felicia Farerre — Sun Of The Night VIP (feat. Yoed Nir)
An interesting updated version of an already familiar song, now with deeply mixed cello and more luxurious orchestral arrangement.

#23 — StealingShad3z — Radio Silence
Soft and monotonous in a good way pop-rock song. The way he arranged the song on the neverchanging four chords to underline the repetitiveness of the situation and the anticipation and neverending wait for something to happen is… quite impressive to be fair Oo

#24 — General Mumble — Dragon Ride
Now this one dnb-act is HEAVY. Assertive. Mean! Rad!!! One hay of a hard-hitting ride, if you know what I mean. I'm not even sure what this one reminds me of, but it still remains unique in a way.

#26 — PSFMer — Shrouded Soul
The most intricate and interesting part of it is the wandering subbassline, layered underneath the busy dnb-beats and pieces, almost hidden behind everything, but can be felt with the whole body.

#33 — Ice Angel & KITSUNE — Colorful
Not only it is colourful but it is JUMPFUL. It's happy and uplifting, fun and cheerful, especially the drop that makes you wanna JUMP JUMP JUMP!!! I wonder if there are any typography PMVs with this track already?..

#35 — Dijit & Koa — Roses In Her Shoes
All these oldschool vibes and tape effects, all the semi-broken and distorted elements on near everything including the vocals… to my liking. Music to my ears.

#36 — TCB — Forever Is Nothing
Creepy and uncanny funeral-like goodbye-track. Always the strongest TCB-vibes from… well… TCB, duh..? It's heavy, distorted, squeezed and twisted, and then distorted, squeezed and twisted again. Hitting riiiiiiight here as usual. Too many feels, makes it hard to listen to. Worth it though.

#47 — MelodyBrony — Trixie (feat. General Mumble)
Pretty nice and solid altmetal/post-hardcore track with interesting melodic decisions in the vocals during the chorus part which adds some spiciness and sharpness, yet works great with the instrumental.

#53 — Zizkil — That's What It Felt Like
Zizkil's signature sound-design and certain chords used here and there never get old, but get transformed and reconstructed each time. I like it, always gives some food for thoughts.

#57 — Hiveminds — Mothership
This is a very nice collaboration, somehow reminding me of some old banging trance tunes from the early brony fandom era, but now mixed nicely and wrapped in a more modern compositional approach for better quality. New classics..?

#58 — Camelia — Alive
This one hits me with more nostalgia and more… natural way of making trance..? Simple yet working chord progression and a nice comfortable track structure for a lonely sunset wander. That'd be perfect for sure.

#60 — 4EverfreeBrony — The Wings You Earned (Tarby cover)
A very nice cover with a much more prominent and shiny arrangement, where all the elements are properly mixed and all the song parts flow into each other seamlessly and naturally, while keeping a soft progressive rock approach.

#61 — Acouste Wholenote — Portraits
Another cute rock-act, but with an even softer pop-rock approach. I like how far Acouste went in songwriting and how much the quality of his mixes improved over these years. Great progress!

#63 — Northerner — Just You And Me
That organ LEADS THE WAY!!! It simply carries the whole thing and adds the exact needed amount of spice to the composition — and boi is it tasty Oo

#64 — Nel Fie — Hooves & Sandcastles
Huh. HUH. This sounds… cute? Oo Adventurous, yet calm, playful, yet a tiny bit serious, structurally complex, yet also simple and accessible. Arranged with a great precision and a rich variety of instruments — including the solo parts — yet remaining a simple joyful tune. Did not expect to hear that at all, that was and interesting experience Oo

#05 — Frozen Night — The Siege Of Kyrinia
Oh, I like these new leitmotifs and the suspended chords that add something extra nice to the scenery. I am also surprised to hear a more raw, rusty and solid guitar tone chosen for the metal-part of the composition. It's much less polished than usual and gives it a great oldschool metal vibe, especially during the guitar breakdowns almost hidden behind the orchestration but still pulsating along.

#07 — Dijit, Kholat & mikuma — Withit
Yooo, that kick!!! The short melodic snippets scattered across the track that go over the chord progression and the bassline is… the exact combination that instantly grabs my attention while the track keeps on grooving!

#14 — Kholat — Can I Stay (feat. Lemon)
This is extremely chill, and those dnb-like beats in the chorus only make it better. Slightly distorted vocals and very SPACEY Zizkil-esque drops feel sooo amazing and hit unexpectedly well.

#22 — Blackened Blue — Down Below
A well-crafted altmetal song with very interesting melodic decisions during the verse parts — both the riffage and the clean-singing vocal lines. Groovy midtempo hard rock vibes most of the time if you don't count the fast-paced parts with extreme vocals.

#27 — Single Purpose — Long Lost Spirits
A mysterious and almost sinister dark atmosphere feels incredibly fitting here. That type of mellow soothing darkness that is always welcome no matter the circumstances. Soft anxiety to comfort and embrace the mind with neuro elements and loneliness.

#28 — GrazySmash — Persepolis
Oh, I did not expect this one to be that short! It's still stuffed with all necessary elements for some hard-hitting trance with oriental vibes and some incredible decent bass work! Certainly a banger!

#50 — Replacer — Someday
Careless and cheerful at first sight it later transforms into a beautiful sparkling waterfall of a very emotional journey-like experience with kaleidoscopic bright and colourful flashes that slowly calms down and returns to where it all began. How Oo

#51 — Koa — Drown (feat. Hatsune Miku)
Wow, I am impressed by this one! Truly felt like one slow-motion dive experience and a lonely solemn plea-like monologue of sorts being the lead. That was a great performance from beginning to the end.

#59 — MirroredReality — Gale
Ahhh, the flute/guitar melodies and the chords!.. Such a lovely combination for a track! Having both oriental and contemporarty motifs binds two different types of mood together and gives a composition a careless feel of freedom and joy, while the chord progression throws a somber melancholic shade on that, as if providing a spicy final touch to the picture!.. Yes, this is beautiful.

#67 — Morgsch — Wanderer And Raven
That's a very comfortable and groovy composition, created with very simple, yet catchy elements, melodic lines and sparkling synths surrounding and reverberating in the fresh space. Almost meditative and filled with confidence. A moment to reflect.

#69 — Michael Picher — Song For Seapony Lyra
Oooo, majestic! Those harmonies are simply awesome, giving that magical and somewhat mysterious feel! For a short composition it has the most laconic, harmonious and fulfilling parts connected together in one — once again — cinematic journey.а

#30 — Äonothem — Bifurcation
Suddenly a lengthy (I mean, of perfect proper length!) trance track that sounds great and thoughtful! I missed that stuff on P@D and now that we got this, I must say it's as good as it can get! The classic compositional structure with two slightly different parts connected by a chill break between them provides the long and smooth buildups that keep the mood afloat and make the music flow seamlessly and naturally. I very much adore the way all the melodic elements are combined with the basslines and the chord progression — and the way it all comes together in the end. This a very good and dare I say… very rare creation for this album!

#45 — L-Train — Into The Deep (Escape Of The Hippogriffs)
This is a pretty decent orchestral thrash metal act! Gotta love the arrangement and the track structure with reprises and melodic comebacks, especially with how many voices the composition has, how much all the melodies are *into* each other and how it's all connected. Gotta love how all the instruments have their moment to shine on the foreground, even the bass licks (and chords!) have a decent representation in some parts! The progressiveness of it and the transitions between each part, the way each instrument (or section) plays their role and shines at the right place and time — that's what I call impressive!

#49 — Dionte George — Lazy Voyage
More jazz standards! More! It's always appreciated and very welcome, especially with some unique execution like here. A combination of a classically built jazz standard with some great warm *very roomy* piano solo accompanied by effect-ive (tchie) saxophone lead parts and lo-fi-ish beats with all the scratching, clicking, sparkling panorama-wandering and soothing effects surrounding the soundspace underlined by the bitcrushed sax'n'rhythm chops. And of course don't forget the final choir part, where all the elements dissolve in one warm and thick honey-like embracing musical liquid!

#03 — Whirly Tail & Foozogz — Isle Of Fleeting Dreams (feat. Mei)
I love the chord progressions in this one soooo much! Accompanied by the soft and soothing Mei vocals, those chords transition into each other through sliding notes here and there, transforming and flowing along with the fast-paced beat of an uplifting yet somber melancholic instrumental. And the middle part that goes on up until the end of the track is simply breathtaking! This is a really great way to build a composition with ups and downs, proper tension and tearful emotional release. The combination of all these elements works perfectly here and I can't get enough of those chords underlining the vocal melodies, I love it so-so-so-SO MUCH Тт

#62 — The Horse Agrees — Sea Cow
This is BEYOND INCREDIBLE!!! I'm nearly out of words to describe how GOOD this song is! From the deep western vibes brought by the combination of guitars and horns to the simple, yet catchy lyrics with those emotional vocals — both leads and the backing choirs — over the dry yet echoingly tasty instrumental with great basslines (LISTEN TO THAT CHORUS) and overall composition structure. Everything in this is just so pure, honest and sincere, I simply can't not love it. How can you make something sound so cinematically epic, yet comfortably room'ey and intimate even, while also having fun performing and recording it at the same time..?!
